Serves 6-8

FOR THE SHORTCRUST PASTRY:

  • 00 flour, 300 g;
  • Butter, 150 g;
  • 1 egg;
  • 1 egg yolk;
  • Caster sugar, 180 g;
  • Baking powder, 1 teaspoon;
  • Orange or lemon zest, to taste.

FOR THE JAM:

  • 4 Marlene® Golden Delicious apples;
  • Butter, 30 g;
  • Caster sugar, 80 g;
  • Honey, to taste;
  • Smooth mustard, to taste;
  • Orange zest, to taste.

 

Missing some ingredients?

Preparation
For the shortcrust pastry:
Put the flour and butter in a bowl and rub together until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the eggs, baking powder, sugar and zest and finish mixing, then cover the dough and leave to rest in the fridge for 1 hour.

For the jam:
Wash and cut the apples into cubes then melt the butter in a pan and cook the apples.
Add a couple of pieces of orange peel to the apples together with the sugar and leave to cook down.
If necessary, add water every now and then.
When the apples are well cooked, leave to cool and add honey and mustard according to taste.
Set aside until needed.

To finish:
Roll out the shortcrust pastry to a thickness of 1.5 - 2 cm then transfer the dough to a round oven dish.
Prick holes in the pastry with a fork.
Add the apple jam and decorate with strips of the leftover pastry.
Bake in a conventional oven for about 25-30 minutes at 180 °C.
Remove from the oven and serve.
