Characteristics and uses:
very versatile, tasty, can be used in many ways, from raw to baked/cooked. Its high vitamin C content ensures that the flesh does not darken immediately after cutting.
Appearance:
from scarlet to dark red in colour, striped, on a golden yellow base; smooth and shiny skin. Elongated shape; medium-large in size. Yellow-cream flesh. Long peduncle.
Flesh:
very firm, crunchy and juicy, finely textured.
Taste:
aromatic, with a pleasant tart flavour.
On sale:
from mid-October to the end of May.
